The NHL betting odds imply the Hart Trophy is the closest race of the four major awards, but there’s still a clear favorite. Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon is priced as the -300 favorite to win his first MVP award on Thursday night.
MacKinnon finished the season with a career-high 140 points (51 goals, 89 assists) while leading the Avs to 107 points and a playoff berth. His consistency was remarkable, never going more than three games without a point.

Kucherov is a really intriguing bet at +500, although his previous win might make oddsmakers lean toward MacKinnon. Kuch led the league with 144 points and became just the 5th player ever to record 100 assists in a season. Furthermore, Nikita outscored his team’s 2nd highest scorer by 54 points.
Connor McDavid, a three-time previous Hart winner, is third in the Hart odds as a +1500 longshot. McDavid missed time this season due to injury, finishing third in NHL scoring with 126 points. It’s highly unlikely he will repeat as the NHL MVP winner given the monstrous seasons the other two players had.
For our Hart Trophy prediction, we’re going to take a flier on Kucherov. Yes, MacKinnon scored more goals, but Kucherov is the true definition of “MVP.” Kucherov factored in on 50% of his team’s goals this season, becoming the second player since 1998-99 to do so.
Hart Pick: Kucherov (+500 sprinkle bet)
2024 Calder Trophy Odds & Predictions
Player (Team) Odds Connor Bedard (Blackhawks) -1400 Brock Faber (Wild) +700 Pyotr Kochetkov (Hurricanes) +7500 Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard is the heavy Calder favorite at -1400 odds (96% implied probability). The Rookie of the Year award is the closest thing to a lock on Thursday, with Minnesota’s Brock Faber a distant second at +700 odds.

Bedard exceeded expectations in his rookie campaign, averaging nearly a point per game on a weak Chicago team. The 18-year-old led all rookies with 61 points (22 goals, 39 assists) despite missing 14 games.
The 18-year-old also dazzled with several highlight-reel tallies, including a ‘Michigan goal’ against the St. Louis Blues. Bedard is a near-lock for this award, so there’s no value in betting on him at -1400. Faber will receive votes, but Bedard’s star power makes him impossible to bet against.

2024 Vezina Trophy Odds & Picks
Player (Team) Odds Connor Hellebuyck (Jets) -1200 Sergei Bobrovsky (Panthers) +1200 Thatcher Demko (Canucks) +2500 The Vezina Trophy is another category with a heavy favorite, as Winnipeg’s Hellebuyck is priced at -1200 to win his second “Best Goaltender” award. He led the league in wins with 37 while also boasting the best save percentage (.921) among goalies who played at least 30 games.
Florida’s Sergei Bobrovsky, who some think was snubbed for the Conn Smythe, is the second betting choice at +1200. The two-time previous Vezina winner had a stellar bounce-back season at age 34 with a 33-17-3 record, 2.46 GAA, and .912 SV%.

Canucks’ Thatcher Demko rounds out the Vezina favorites with +2200 longshot odds to win the award. Demko has excellent numbers (2.40 GAA, .920 SV%) but played significantly fewer games than each of the other candidates.
This is another NHL award where we don’t see any value in a longshot. Hellebuyck saved 31.71 goals above expected per Natural Stat Trick, which is ten more than the next goalie on the list. His monstrous workload (60 games, 1,656 saves) solidifies his Vezina case.
Vezina Pick: Connor Hellebuyck (-1200)
2024 Norris Trophy Odds & Prediction
Player (Team) Odds Quinn Hughes (Canucks) -750 Cale Makar (Avalanche) +600 Roman Josi (Predators) +2500 The Norris Trophy odds feature another lopsided race, with Vancouver’s Quinn Hughes the massive -750 favorite to win “Best Defenseman.” The 24-year-old had a historic season, leading all blueliners with 92 points (17 goals, 75 assists) in 82 games.
Cale Makar, the 2022 Norris winner, is once again in the mix (+600) after finishing second among defensemen in points (90), goals (21), and assists (69). He also lead the position in points per game (1.17) over 77 contests.

— Sportsnet (@Sportsnet) May 1, 2024
While Makar’s raw totals are slightly behind Hughes, he was more productive on a per-game basis. The biggest thing working against him is voter fatigue after winning the award recently.
Roman Josi is a +2500 longshot after leading all defensemen with 23 goals and finishing third in points (85) while playing all 82 games. While Josi is deserving of finalist status again, his age and voter preference for younger, flashier defensemen will likely work against him.
You can make a case for either Makar or Josi to win the award, but Hughes’ historic offensive season makes him the clear frontrunner. Expect Vancouver to have their first-ever Norris winner on Thursday night.
Norris Pick: Quinn Hughes (-750)
