Tom Brady and Vince Vaughn Commercial Explained
BetMGM, the exclusive sports betting division of MGM, is aiming to make a splash at Super Bowl 58 with a star-studded commercial. While FanDuel has the ‘Gronk Kick of Destiny‘, MGM has landed former NFL star Tom Brady and actor Vince Vaughn for their first-ever Super Bowl ad.
BetMGM, in partnership with agency Highdive, released their first teaser for the commercial on Friday. Titled ‘Too Close’, the 30-second video features Vince Vaughn “eager to steal the spotlight” from Brady.
The teaser showcases Brady and Vaughn positioned next to each other, preparing to introduce the promotion for the major event. Shortly after beginning, Vaughn, feeling that Brady is too near, requests him to move slightly. Vaughn is content only when Brady is no longer in the frame, at which point he continues the promotion solo.
Off-camera, Brady comments, “This feels personal,” as Vaughn expresses his fondness for the moments they are creating together, delivered in his characteristically slick manner. The beef between the two celebrities in the teaser indicates the type of commercial we might see on February 11th.
Brady is a seven-time Super Bowl champion and the consensus best NFL player of all time, while Vaughn is a well-acclaimed comedy actor known for his performances in “Wedding Crashers” and “Dodgeball”. Hockey HOFer Wayne Gretzky is also expected to make an appearance in the commercial, although he didn’t appear in the teaser.
