This is the first visit by the Buckeyes to Wisconsin since 2016. Ohio State hasn’t lost to the Badgers since 2010. The Buckeyes are 7-2 ATS in the school’s past nine games against Wisconsin.
Kickoff for this game at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday, October 28 is set for 7:30 pm ET. The broadcast is being carried by NBC.
Buckeyes vs Badgers Betting Splits
In the college football public betting splits, Ohio State is just 1-1-1 ATS on the road this season. Wisconsin is a dismal 1-3 ATS at home during the 2023 campaign.
The Buckeyes are 4-1 ATS in their past five games against opponents from the Big Ten West. Meanwhile, the Badgers are 2-5 ATS over their past seven contests against Big Ten schools.
Wisconsin is 4-1 SU in the past five games. Ohio State is 7-0 SU in the past seven games, 5-0 SU in the last five road games and 12-1 SU in the past 13 games against Big Ten opponents.
The total has gone under in six of Ohio State’s last seven games. The under has also proven the successful play in eight of Wisconsin’s last 12 games.
The #3 Buckeyes are set as the co-third betting choice with a line of +700 in the National Championship odds. Wisconsin is given +100000 odds in this betting market.
Buckeyes Seek To Avoid Letdown
Coming off an emotional 20-12 win over Penn State in a battle of Big Ten unbeatens, Ohio State will be looking to ensure the team doesn’t suffer any drop-off in performance this week. Earlier this season, following a 17-14 win over Notre Dame the Buckeyes struggled at the outset the next week before getting their act together, scoring 27 second-half points to beat Maryland 37-17.
Even if they do start slowly, Ohio State’s defense should keep Wisconsin in check. The Buckeyes are #5 in the nation in total defense, allowing 260.1 yards per game. They’re #2 in yards allowed per play (3.93) and #3 in scoring defense (10.0 points allowed per game).
Congratulations to @OhioStateFB wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. on being named the Maxwell Award Player of the Week for his terrific performance against Penn State and its No. 1 rated defense last week: career-high 11 receptions, nine first downs, 162 yards and one TD. pic.twitter.com/Yqgf3SDFL0

Offensively, WR Marvin Harrison Jr is eighth in the country in receiving yards (766) and seventh in receiving yards per game (109.4). He’s scored six touchdowns.

Fickell Finger Of Fate For Badgers?
Former Ohio State interim head coach Luke Fickell is in charge of the Badgers, but he hasn’t been lucky Luke when facing his old school. Fickell lost 42-0 to the Buckeyes as Cincinnati head coach in 2019.

Badgers QB Braeden Locke will be making his second career start and first home start. Not surprisingly, Wisconsin will look to run the ball against Ohio State. Badgers RB Braelon Allen is leading the Big Ten in rushing yards per game (100.57). He went for 145 yards last week against Illinois and 165 last season against the Buckeyes.
There’s just one flaw in that game plan. The Ohio State run defense is 10th in the nation in yards per carry allowed (3.01).
Ohio State vs Wisconsin Prediction
The last two times the Buckeyes visited Camp Randall Stadium, both games were decided on overtime touchdowns.
Wisconsin wins when running the ball. The Badgers are 5-0 SU when they have 35+ carries in a game this season and 0-2 SU with fewer than 30 rushes. Trouble is, Ohio State’s defense isn’t going to be accommodating to the ground game.
Wisconsin will probably keep this one close for a bit, but just like the Maryland game, Ohio State will ultimately wear down the Badgers and pull away.
Ohio State vs Wisconsin Pick: Ohio State Buckeyes -14.5 (-105)
