Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski could be the latest big name to move to Major League Soccer, according to a report in the United States.

MLS teams eyeing Lewandowski

TUDN USA journalist Nico Bravo says that Lewandowski, 35, is a target for several MLS teams ahead of the North American league’s 2024 season, which gets underway early next year.

Bravo did not specify which teams are interested in the Poland striker, who is under contract at Barça until June 2026.

Pole said to be interested in US

Lewandowski, who has scored 39 goals in 58 games since joining the LaLiga champions in summer 2022, has previously been linked with an interest in crossing the Atlantic.

In an interview with MLS’ media team earlier this year, Lewandowski’s international team-mate Karol Swiderski, who plays for Charlotte FC, said the veteran has asked him about life in the United States.

“Yes, he’s asked me sometimes,” Swiderski said. “I’m waiting for this moment, so I hope he will come here, because he’s really a legend, [not only] in Poland but even I think in Europe. He’s scored many, many goals, so it would be nice to meet him in MLS.”

Lewandowski to join Messi and co in MLS?

Were Lewandowski to go to MLS, he would follow in the footsteps of Barça legend Lionel Messi and former Blaugrana team-mates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, who have all joined Inter Miami in 2023.

Another ex-Barça star, Luis Suárez, is also poised to play for Miami – and it’s worth noting that Bravo was among the journalists who began reporting in the summer that the 36-year-old was in line to join the Herons.
