England (1-0-0) and Denmark (0-1-0) both looked like the better side in their tournament-opening matches at Euro 2024 but only England emerged with the full three points on Sunday, blanking Serbia 1-0. Denmark took the lead early against Slovenia on a 17th-minute goal from captain Christian Eriksen and the Danes looked the part of heavy favorite for the majority of the game, yet they spurned multiple opportunities to pull away and were stunned by a 77th-minute equalizer en route to a 1-1 draw.
Heading into Thursday’s match in Frankfurt (12:00 pm ET), Denmark are sizable underdogs against England, who are +400 co-favorites in the Euro 2024 championship odds alongside France.

Jude Bellingham scored the only goal of England’s tournament-opening win against Serbia, heading a deflected cross into the top of the goal in the 13th minute. England’s 1-0 win on Sunday was a telling indication of how they are likely to play this tournament. Despite having some of the world’s best offensive talents, Southgate doesn’t seem inclined to play a wide-open, fast-paced style. And that’s consistent with the manager’s his longstanding approach with the Three Lions: they win low-scoring, low-event games.
I expect a relatively disciplined, defensive approach from Denmark as well, who will feel the need to take at least a point from Thursday’s game. They will be all too aware of how dangerous Bellingham, Saka, Foden, and Kane can be on the counterattack if they press up the field too forcefully.
