The Valhalla Golf Club is hosting the 2024 PGA Championship this week and will be a brutal test for the world’s top golfers.

The name comes from Norse mythology and is the viking heaven where slain warriors rest under the watchful eye of Odin. The course is definitely a paradise, well if you keep your ball on the fairway, at least. It has hosted three PGA Championships, the 2008 Ryder Cup and two Senior PGA Championsips.
The course has 62 bunkers and the fairways are narrow with thick rough, which will get the best of even golf’s greatest players this week. Its 7,609 yards make it that much more difficult. The course is private and changed ownership in 2022, which caused some members to leave due to discrepancies with the new managers.
According to the Golf Digest article that explains the problems caused by the new management, the initiation fee is somewhere between $65,000 and $100,000. Annual membership dues for individuals is priced estimated at approximately $4,200 – $5,000 depending on the chosen membership level.
