Canucks vs Oilers Game 3 Prediction
Though they trailed three separate times in the game and never held the lead until winning in overtime, the Oilers were full value for their Game 2 victory. Edmonton outshot Vancouver 31-19 and had 3.41 expected goals to just 1.74 for the Canucks, according to Moneypuck.com. Their powerplay went 1-for-3 and is connecting at a preposterous 45.8% in the postseason (no other team is higher than 33.3%).
With a 28-9-4 record during the regular season, Edmonton had the best home record in the Western Conference. While that included two losses to Vancouver (4-3 on Oct. 14 and 3-1 on Apr. 13), Demko was the Vancouver starter in the first and McDavid wasn’t in the lineup for the second.
As fun a story as Silovs is, he’s a significant step down from would-be Vezina-contender Demko, and the Oilers’ prolific offense is going to keep lighting up the young Latvian.
